Stephen M. Hollister

SNAME, IEEE (Life Member), ACM

Stephen M. Hollister has two masters degrees from the University of Michigan in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) and Computer, Information, and Control Engineering (CICE). He also obtained a Professional Engineering license. He started New Wave Systems, Inc. in 1985 to write CAD/CAM/CAE software for naval architecture, ship construction, and general engineering. He also wrote an entire general-purpose NURB curve and surface design program - Pilot3D. See his top-searched white paper The Dirty Little Secrets of NURBS. He taught college math and computer science full time in the 1980s during the height of Turbo Pascal.

Stephen has written over a million lines of code over fifty years spanning mainframes, minicomputers, workstations, PCs in DOS and Windows, and now web programming. He has written in many programming languages, including FORTRAN, Pascal, Algol, various assembly languages, C, C++, Java, and now the web with HTML, CSS, JS, and more. Each time technology changed, he had to rewrite code and see other valuable code lost because the cost of conversion was too great.

Stephen wrote and presented many peer-reviewed technical papers covering engineering design, data unification, and code integration throughout the US and Europe.
